British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS) hold a programme of National Employment & Career Events throughout the year and country, which gives the Armed Forces Community (AFC) the opportunity to meet employers, training providers, charities and associations face to face. COVID-19 has changed how we have been interacting, as it has for the companies we work with and most companies across the UK/World.

Our Virtual platform has replaced our planned face-2-face careers fair at Catterick, this month. BFRS will now be hosting its first full National Employment Online Careers Fair, from 09:30 hrs 23rd April to 23:59 hrs 7th May. The event is sponsored by BAE Systems, who continue to be a massive supporter of employing from the AFC and employ 1000s of ex-military personnel.

During the event, attendees will be able access in-house information from companies (exhibitors). The virtual event connects the Armed Forces Community with online exhibitors in a virtual place, where attendees can access exhibitor websites, social media channels, videos, jobs, courses, downloadable company information, appointments, a messaging system and view live and on demand webcasts.

Those attending are urged to create their online career profile and upload a CV, prior to the event starting. Many companies such as Forces CV Services will be presenting an on-demand seminar as will other companies, such as Go Landscape. They will be holding live Q&As throughout the 14 days.

BFRS Director Neil Dean said “Support should continue for all those who are involved in the resettlement process. It is important to establish connections when you are in the process of leaving the military or looking for that next position. The Armed Forces Community isn’t just about service leavers, it’s also about partners, family members, Reserve Forces and Veterans. They are all welcomed to capitalise on the support BFRS has available, such as the National Employment Online Careers Fair. “

“It has been fantastic working with BFRS over the last 10 years, they create instant bonds with the companies they bring together to support the Armed Forces Community (AFC). They understand the AFC and what the companies need, bridging the gap. Morsons, me, BFRS and the others that exhibit all trying to help the AFC, these events are fantastic at bringing together, everything in one place” – Andy Reid MBE
