Cumbria NHS Support Military Families

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS go above and beyond for all members of the Armed Forces Community (AFC) by not only hiring and support those who have served but by ensuring their families are support as well.

 

This can be done in a multitude of ways from offering services that make it easier for ex-service members to get to work every day to offering their families local jobs to allow them to be closer to them. Small things like this go along way because it’s easy to forget that the men and women that protect this country have families they have to be apart from.

 

That’s why at BFRS we try our hardest to ensure everyone that falls under the AFC umbrella is considered. Family is one of the most important things to those in the military so making sure that the one they love are looked after and supported is a high priority for us.

 

Fiona Brownlee, who is a Military Spouse that now works as a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist, had this to say:

“I have been a member of the armed forces community for 15 years, since I met my husband who is in the Royal Air Force.” 

“I’m delighted CNTW has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, recognising the value the armed forces community can bring and committing to support us.”

 

It reaches further than just military spouses as all members of your family are eligible for our services from your siblings to your children!

 

This is shown with Phillip Graham, who is a brother to a service member and was able to get an Employment Advisor role with CNTW.

“Even though I have no military background myself I have family members who have served in the military and a brother who served with the Paras.

I am a keen supporter of military charities and events and think its amazing how involved CNTW are in supporting the armed forces community.”
