BFRS Members Team Up

Anglian Water and The Environmental Agency, two BFRS members, have partnered with the Essex Council to find ways of improving the wildlife quality in their surrounding water sources.

This unique project forms part of their ‘Get River Positive’ initiative, where they have committed to improve the quality and health of our rivers. Enhancing rivers and creating new habitats for wildlife to thrive is a crucial part of this.

In 2019, Spains Hall Estate welcomed Eurasian beavers to its grounds as part of a pioneering project. The beavers were re-introduced to the local area to help build natural flood defences in the Finchingfield Brook.

After a successful first phase of the project, Anglian Water is proud to be part-funding this pioneering flood management project, which will see two new enclosures built to welcome further beavers to the area, alongside Environment Agency, Essex and Suffolk Water and Essex County Council.

It’s amazing seeing forces friendly companies come together for a worthy cause that they believe in.
