As most of us know, modern technology allows us to check websites whether we are on the train, walking or in front of the TV. Mobile phones and tablets with their smaller screen sizes make it difficult to view a conventional website which fits onto a computer monitor.

Research shows that over 45% of visitors to the BFRS website are using mobile devices and they have upgraded their website to use “responsive” technology, which automatically changes the layout of pages to whatever device you are using – whether it be a mobile phone, tablet or desktop.

From user testing they have found that everyone likes the new design and how it fits nicely onto the screen – making it even easier for job seekers to find details of vacancies, courses or even their upcoming careers events.

Linked to the launch, BFRS are hosting a Careers Event at the Royal Maritime Club in Portsmouth, which is being sponsored by BAE Systems, on the 26th November 2015.

The event is aimed at Service Leavers, the Reserve Forces, Veterans, MOD employees, and their partners and families. This is an opportunity for those attending to meet national and regional employers, training providers and support services and discuss their transition or next career move in person. Hundreds of delegates are expected to attend on the day, and employers exhibiting include Outsource UK, Morsons International, Age UK, NUCO and Chevron Traffic Management.

We know that by bringing the commercial world and the Armed Forces Community together at these events, great opportunities and future careers are found. These also provide a great avenue to network with the large number of ex-military that are manning the stands.

Why Portsmouth? Portsmouth has a long and rich history with the Armed Forces Community, it plays host to the Royal Naval Base which is home to over half of the Royal Navy’s surface ships. The base has been in operation since 1194 and will soon be home to 2 of the biggest ships ever built for the Royal Navy.
