Defence Minister for Germany, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer visits Buckingham Palace and Lancaster House as a guest of the UK Secretary of State for Defence.

Her visit began with a Guard of Honour provided by No 7 Company Coldstream Guards with musical support from the Band of the Irish Guards on Horse Guards Parade, and a meeting in the historic rooms of the Army’s London headquarters.

The German Defence Minister was met in the front yard of the historic Horse Guards building by the Secretary of State for UK Defence Ben Wallace, and the General Officer Commanding the Household Division and HQ London District Major General Chris Ghika. She then moved to Horse Guards Parade where she was invited to inspect the Guard of Honour by Coldstream Guards Officer Captain Piers Gamberini in fluent German. The Defence Ministers then held their meeting in rooms that historically were used by the Duke of Wellington when he commanded the British Army at the time of Waterloo and counted the forces from what is now modern Germany as his greatest military allies.
