The Cumbrian Challenge is military charity Walking With The Wounded’s annual flagship fundraising event for individuals, organisations and companies who want to show their support and experience a memorable team-building weekend in the Lake District, alongside those who have been directly supported by the charity.

WWTW targets those who have fallen the furthest, men and women struggling with mental health issues, unemployment, homelessness or caught in police custody. By providing early intervention programmes and speeding up access to therapy we are changing the lives of veterans and, crucially, their families.

Who WWTW support:

“I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for the help provided by Walking With The Wounded. In fact, I would probably be dead.” Leon | Ex-Welsh Guards, diagnosed with PTSD following tours to Iraq, Bosnia and Afghanistan.

“I was in a very dark place before I was referred to Walking With The Wounded. Without their support, I don’t know where I would be. I now feel I have a bright future ahead of me.” Adam | Ex-Green Howards, injured in training.

The money you so generously raise, funds Walking With The Wounded’s programmes which support vulnerable veterans back into independence through employment. With many thanks to sponsors BAE Systems and FDM Group, who have also taken part! This is what they had to say about the Cumbrian Challenge…

“As adventure events go, WWTW has created an amazing formula, which is testing individually whilst simultaneously providing huge enjoyment. WWTW's collaboration across their community of staff, beneficiaries, and volunteers, supporters and donors is not only hugely effective but undertaken with a sense of fun. Thank you for another terrific event". JIM GOODWIN FDM Group

“The reason we got involved with WWTW, and particularly the Cumbrian Challenge, is because I spent 35 years as a nuclear sub mariner in the Royal Navy and we’re really keen to do more to show that the Armed Forces covenant is more than just a piece of paper.” IAN LOFTHOUSE Director Nuclear Integration, Submarines, BAE Systems
