BuildForce is a collaborative industry-led programme, with an objective to reduce skills gaps in construction and the built environment whilst offering a second career to the military personnel. We connect the military community to construction careers through a UK-wide BuildForce Alliance of employers, industry bodies and charities, supported by Government and working in partnership with The Royal Foundation.
BuildForce isn't a recruitment agency, we offer much more of a personal service; we connect the ex-military personnel to the construction sector via our Mentoring programme, offering 1-2-1 support and career advice, arranging work placements and identifying job opportunities. Since January 2017, we have connected with over 1000 Service Leavers and Veterans nationwide; inducted 496, placed 165 in jobs, 176 in work placements and 631 have benefited from our 1-2-1 mentoring programme.
Testimonials from Service Leavers from previous Armed Forces insight days:
“My BuildForce experience has been a success and especially through the insight days. In my case with Faithful & Gould picking up on my CV and short conversations that ultimately led to interviews and a role. For me, this is just one of several indications of the construction industry being open to recognising potential in Ex-Service personnel and their skills.”
“This was my first BuildForce Industry Insight Event but well worth attending despite being well into my resettlement. For me the combination of supportive and well informed industry connections (not just HR/recruitment) all in one place supported by your knowledge of the candidate makes this a highly effective employment event. Thank you for your targeted advice on who to speak with and for ensuring suitably senior representation were in attendance and engaged, this cuts out weeks of networking and coffee’s and I found it really useful.”
“Thanks for today, what I found best was the one on one time. Everyone had good advice for me and also pointed out avenues for me to go down that I hadn’t thought of before.”
