Investing in Military Talent

Date: Friday November 17, 2017 at 11:37am

Admiral Sir Jonathon Band attended the Portsmouth remembrance parade, said “there has never been a more important time for the country to rally behind its military personnel” *

And hundreds of companies keep on signing the Armed Forces Covenant, a promise from the Nation that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly.

On Thursday 23rd November, BFRS are hosting a Job & Careers Fair at the Catterick Leisure Centre, Catterick Garrison.  60 plus businesses, are going to attend. This isn’t just a show of support, it’s an investment in talent.

Over next 3-4 years 85,000 personnel are expected to leave the Forces, and with two thirds of employers expecting to experience a deficit of soft skills with the next five years. The Armed Forces Community represents a fantastic investment.

The companies who exhibit at the BFRS National Employment & Career Fairs, always have regional, national and overseas opportunities. Our Catterick event will provide over 2000 career openings, which highlights their commitment to support and invest and create a positive future for those who have served our country.

Bringing companies and the AFC together at our Career Fairs, is crucial to ensure these social problems are countered and showcasing the skills and attributes they offer, as well as organisations that recognise the benefits from employing from this community.

Lieutenant General Richard Nugee CVO CBE, Chief of Defence People said;

“For many, the transition from military service into civilian life represents one of the most significant changes an individual and their family will ever experience. It is right that, as a Department, we provide as comprehensive a resettlement offer as possible, and I am proud of the work that we do, with partners such as the British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS) organisation, to support our remarkable veterans and their loved ones.”
