Soldiers from across Scotland and the UK have been
participating in the final rehearsal before the move to Edinburgh Castle and
the start of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
7 - 29 August 2020 Edinburgh Castle
On Wednesday morning, the British Army military
bands participating in this year’s Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo joined
International and Scottish acts to perform in the last ‘undress’ rehearsal at
Redford Barracks in Edinburgh prior to the move to Edinburgh Castle. Following
this rehearsal there will be one final ‘dress’ rehearsal in the Castle on
Thursday before doors open to the full fee paying public on Friday
This occasion enables organisers to run the acts through their paces and to
allow the performers to begin to gel together prior to going on public display.
The show is also open to the UK Press and often the doors have been thrown open
to locals from the Coilinton area of Edinburgh. The rehearsal is considered
‘undress’ as the performers are not required to perform in their formal attire
but can relax and get into the spirit of the show.
British Army acts this year include the Bands of
the Scots & Irish Guards and the Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Pipes
and Drums of the Irish Guards, Combined (1&3 SCOTS) Royal Regiment of
Scotland, Gurkhas and the Combined University
