Following the launch of Forces Families Jobs at the House of Lords
in September, with Minister for Defence People and Veterans, Johnny Mercer MP, spouses
and employers have praised the platform as a one-stop shop for their employment
and training needs.
Forces Families Jobs is a new online service to support armed
forces families from the Army, Navy and RAF into employment and provide
opportunities for training and development.
One spouse said: “It
is great to have something where us wives are at the heart of it; it is about
us and our careers; our futures and helping our families.”
The success of the site has kept on growing since
the launch and more than 3,000 jobs have been uploaded, nearly 300 employers
have signed up and nearly 500 job seekers have registered.
One employer said: “It’s really easy for employers to use; being free to advertise our jobs
is great. This really is a one-stop shop for spouses and employers alike.”
Another said: “We
would love to sign up. Even if we do not have a job that spouses would be
interested in, we have training that they can access.”
There have been many other events around the country
to spread the message about the new website to military families, including in
Catterick, Windsor, Stafford and Aldershot.
Reaction has been
good, with another spouse saying: “This is a fantastic
resource, especially for those of us who are facing another relocation to an
area I know nothing about, or even where to start looking for jobs.”
Who is it for?
Any organisation that has signed the Armed Forces Covenant
can advertise their jobs free of charge, as can training providers who are offering
discounted or free training courses for armed forces families.
Spouses,
partners and family members of current regular and reservist personnel can
use the site, as well as family members of personnel who have
left the armed forces within the last 12 months and bereaved spouses,
partners and family members for up to two years.
About the site
Jobseekers can register to create an account, upload
their CV or build a CV, create job alerts and search for jobs.
If you have any queries or if you’re an employer or
