Introduction:
My client is a leading manufacturer within their industry. They now have a requirement for a Product Development Lead to join their busy manufacturing facility at their site in Barrow in Furness. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a multi skilled team within the laboratory and production area. The Product Development Lead will manage the testing and enhancement of existing and new products to contribute to the product development from initial concept through to release into the market.
This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and could be well suited for a person who has previously served in HM Armed Forces i.e. Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, with a background in new product development and quality assurance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of New Products, Quality Assurance and Lab Technicians along with Quality Inspectors.
- Lead the integration of quality control and assurance into the value streams whilst meeting customer needs and maintaining internal quality expectations within the product environment.
- Increase Effectiveness and minimising lead time to market.
- Identify quality defects and proactively work to make improvements to existing products.
- Process and enhance product performance, efficiency, cost and value to the customer.
- Lead and manager product development of all new and existing products.
- Ensure products and raw materials meet specifications and processes conform to pre-defined settings, quality standards and operating procedures.
- Interact with the QA, TD managers and all members of the value stream materials sourcing, purchasing and supply.
- Ensure there is no interference with planned production.
- Assist in creating a safe and healthy working environment and to ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Generating data to substantiate claims regarding the safety and quality of existing products.
- To process audits, product costing.
- Coach and train members of staff within the Laboratory.
Applicant Requirements:
Essential:
- Candidates must hold an ALevel in Chemistry and Maths.
- Experience of working within a manufacturing/production environment in a similar role.
- High attention to detail with a hands on approach to work.
- Experience of improving existing products and processes in a FMCG manufacturing business.
- Strong people management skills alongside being dynamic and capable of developing people.
- Knowledge of integration of lab production.
- IT Literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Desirable:
- Qualified to degree level in Chemistry.
